Position Title:

Grants Associate
Department: Fund Development
Reports To: Grants Manager

The Grants Associate provides support to the Grants Manager in identifying, research and securing grant funding in support of UWSEM’s goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research grant funding prospects and opportunities for UWSEM initiatives and capital      needs.
  • Conduct secondary research to help define and quantify community needs.
  • Recommend strategies for new funding opportunities.
  • Work with program managers to help define program parameters and budgets. 
  • Assist Grants Manager with preparing grant submissions and reports for the institutional    donors (“funders”).
  • Assist with the completion of grant submissions in accordance with an established project schedule.
  • At the direction of the Grants Manager, write/edit major gift solicitations, marketing          materials, speeches, web-based materials, etc. 
  • Under the direction of the Grants Manager, develop and maintain the grants reporting       process. Maintain and update accurate files reflecting the development and            confirmation of all proposals, grant stewardship reports, application priorities and           timetables, and research into community needs.
  • Maintain the grants database.

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, English, journalism or related field.

Experience: Requires 12-24 months of relevant experience with grant development experience.

Skills:  Requires strong organizational and project management abilities, along with exceptional written communication skills.  Must be able to analyze and organize large amounts of financial and non-financial data.  Requires knowledge of the private donor community, as well as government sources of funds.  Strong computer skills are needed including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
