Position Title:
Manager-Basic Needs
Department: Community Investment and Partnerships
Reports To: Vice President, Basic Needs
The Manager manages the design and implementation of resource investment strategies explicitly designed to improve lives by mobilizing resources. This position will build relationships with a variety of community stakeholders to assess the issues and analyze results of programs to determine the best practices for achieving highest impact results. The position will also be responsible for managing grant reviews for programs as assigned by Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect, synthesize, and analyze data from agencies and community partners within the Basic Needs impact area.
- Determine gaps, if any, and recommend potential solutions based on relationships with community and agencies.
- Assist with identifying and interpreting social and economic data, trends and other human service information, and developing strategies that improves or cause change in community conditions.
- Implement innovative program efforts based on identified community issues.
- Establish collaborative partnerships/relationships, as appropriate to achieve desired results.
- Develop appropriate evaluation measures to indicate community impact.
- Utilize expertise in the Basic Needs impact area and make recommendations on the merit and impact of funding requests.
- Provide direction to United Way volunteers during the grant review process.
- Review and monitor annual program reports.
- Address questions from programs related to Basic Needs.
- Works cross-departmentally on internal and external organizational activities and functions.
- Perform agency liaison responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Education: Requires Masters Degree in the human service area, education, communication, health social science or business.
Experience: Requires at least five years of related work experience.
Skills:
- Experience facilitating group meetings and utilizing team approach to solving issues.
- Self-starter with project management skills experience.
- Experience with collaborative partnerships.
- Experience in analyzing data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of social service delivery system.
- Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Excel, Power Point, and Word is critical.
- Ability to travel throughout the tri-county area regularly.
- Knowledge of organizational and management systems, cross systems collaboration, program development and evaluation.
- Advance skills in project planning, resource development and program execution are also required.
- The candidate must be able to work in a multiple systems environment and facilitate planning activities for representatives from the non-profit, business and local, state and federal government sectors and community residents in a manner that supports the UWSEM Agenda For Change.
- The candidate must have excellent writing skills, experience in grant writing and public speaking and must work effectively in the team environment. The individual must be comfortable in convening regional and community groups in a manner that results in initiatives, which support the UWSEM Agenda.
