Position Title:
Basic Needs Associate
Department: Community Investment and Partnerships
Reports To: Vice President, Basic Needs
The Basic Needs Associate will assist with key resource investment strategies explicitly designed to improve lives by mobilizing resources. The position will also be responsible for assisting the Manager with grant reviews for programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data from agencies and community partners within the Basic Needs impact area.
- Collect and prepare reports to determine gaps and recommend potential solutions based on relationships with community and agencies.
- Assist with identifying and interpreting social and economic data, trends and other human service information, and developing strategies that improves or cause change in community conditions.
- Assist in the maintenance of collaborative partnerships/relationships, as appropriate to achieve desired results.
- Prepare appropriate evaluation measures to indicate community impact.
- Utilize expertise in the Basic Needs impact area and make recommendations on the merit and impact of funding requests.
- Provide direction to United Way volunteers during the grant review process.
- Review and monitor annual program reports.
- Address questions from programs related to Basic Needs.
- Works cross-departmentally on internal and external organizational activities and functions.
- Perform agency liaison responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, human service, communications, social sciences or related field.
Experience: Requires at least three year of related organizational system, collaboration and teamwork experience.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Basic knowledge of social service delivery system.
- Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Excel, Power Point, and Word is critical.
- Ability to travel throughout the tri-county area regularly.
- Basic knowledge of organizational and management systems, cross systems collaboration, program development and evaluation.
- Basic skills in project planning, resource development and program execution are also required.
- The candidate must have above average writing skills and experience in public speaking, work effectively in a team environment and be able to effectively support the development of grants and other fund resources. The individual must be able to participate in convening regional and community groups to support UWSEM initiatives and the UWSEM Agenda For Change. In addition, the individual must be able to monitor and provide technical assistance to UWSEM funded partners.
- Experience and background in the human services, governmental relationships, non-profit operations, and collaborative work with the business communities is required. Basic understanding of evaluation design and outcome measurement is necessary
