I Live United For me, giving what I can to help others provides the most incredible feeling. I’ve contributed to United Way for a few decades now, and I’m always amazed at the difference it makes in an individual’s life. Still, while thousands of people benefit from United Way’s work some of the most vulnerable in our community continue to suffer. Right now, too many young people in southeast Michigan are falling behind, and chronic truancy is to blame. When young people cannot or do not go to school regularly they have little chance of graduating and succeeding in life. United Way’s Virgil H. Carr Society is curbing truancy rates and keeping students on track through its School Attendance Initiative. In the last school year alone, the initiative reached 450 students, and 355 of them showed improvement in their attendance by the second grading period. I give to United Way because I believe education is the cornerstone of a complete, fulfilling life. My name is Ron, and this is how I Live United. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. Live United.
