My name is Matt and I’m a Detroiter.

I recently bought my first home, so I know how difficult the process is. Saving for a down payment, getting a good interest rate and eventually making improvements. It can be daunting.

In southeast Michigan, mortgage foreclosure rates are among the highest in the country. A lot of hard-working families lack the tools and support they need to save for a home and reach financial independence. 

That’s why United Way is focused on increasing homeownership in southeast Michigan to help more people become financially stable. United Way’s Leadership Next brings together the future generation of leaders to find innovative ways to help individuals access tools and resources that will help them to take the home ownership leap.
